Hexahydrocannabinol (AKA “HHC,” or sometimes “HXC”) is a hydrogenated cannabinoid that is closely related to 𝞓9-THC (AKA “THC,” the primary cannabinoid found in marijuana) in terms of both chemical structure and effects in the body. In order to remain compliant with hemp industry regulations, most HHC products available today are derived from CBD through a hydrogenation process conducted in a laboratory.
HHC is psychoactive, meaning it causes temporary changes to some psychological and physiological processes, providing a similar sensations of “high” to that of its close cousins 𝞓9-THC and 𝞓8-THC (AKA “Delta 8”). Many HHC users report effects that are more reminiscent of classic THC than Delta 8, although the effects of each are similar. Some users report longer-lasting effects from HHC relative to THC, Delta 8, and Delta 10.
Is HHC Legal?
HHC is federally legal under the 2018 Farm Bill, provided the product is derived from hemp and contains less than 0.3% 𝞓9-THC. Always check your local laws and regulations regarding any hemp product, as they may differ from federal law.
